Assignments

Students will be assessed by a combination of continuous assessment (30%) and a final essay (70%).

For each assignment, submit one copy to Turnitin on the class Blackboard page and one printed copy in class. Assignments will be considered incomplete and late penalties will accrue until both copies are submitted. No exceptions will be made to this arrangement.

Turnitin dropboxes will close one hour before class begins on days that assignments are due: i.e. 0800 on 17 Feb, 10 Mar, and 24 Mar. When submitting to Turnitin, ensure the filename is in the following format: surname_assignment (e.g. smith_finalessay.doc). Please attach an official departmental cover sheet to all assignments. Written assignments must be typed, double-spaced, and completed in accordance with the MLA citation style.

Continuous assessment 1:
Compile a bibliographical definition
Students will compile a definition of an assigned bibliographical term for BookGloss. This should include a clear definition of the term and a description of its bibliographical significance. It should be accompanied (where appropriate) by photographic examples, and cite and discuss at least two scholarly articles that discuss the term. Include a bibliography of all sources that you consulted.
NB Read these assignment guidelines before beginning your research.
